Windsor

Patrick Sanvido '96

to

Sudbury

14th round draft pick 2017
6th round pick 2018

Breakdown

The Spits move their captain to Sudbury in a move that helps them get down to 3 OAs. Great value for the Wolves who capatalized on a limited market for the Spits unless they were willing to send him to a western rival.

With 250 career games under his belt Sanvido will be a big boost to the Wolves back end and gives them some insurance to move one of their '97 defencemen who may not be in their OA plans next year if something materializes this week.

Kitchener

Dawson Carty

to

Hamilton

5th 2018

Breakdown

Kitchener Moves Carty who has been fantastic for them but is their 4th OA. With Opilka finally healthy and Richardson more than capable of handling the back up role it is a move that made the most sense.

Hamilton gets great value for a goalie who will allow them to manage Kaden Fulcher's minutes and give him some competition in the crease. This is a move that Oshawa made last year when picking up Justin Nicholls to help manage Jeremy Broduer's icetime. A move that seems to be paying of this season with Broduer's great season.

With Ceci, Donofrio and Sheppard in the pipeline the Bulldogs now have a surplus of netminders heading into next season. Staios will have his hands full finding icetime for this group as Ceci and Donofrio gave up their NCAA eligibility to sign with the club and Sheppard has spent sometime at Hockey Canada goalie camps.

Barrie Colts

Matt Brassard

to

Oshawa Generals

2nd 2017 (KGN)
3rd 2018 (SAR)
3rd 2020 conditional

Breakdown

Great proactive move by GM Roger Hunt who has done a fantastic job with the Generals this season.

They get at minimium 1.5 years out of Brassard with the possibility of an OA season that would only cost them a 3rd round pick. With Mercier and Vande Sompel gone next year (if not sooner with Vande Sompel) and at most only 2 of Templeton, Robertson or Di Carlo back as OAs Brassard gives them some added expierience on what will be a very veteran blueline next season.

Barrie adds some much needed draft assets while moving a piece has upside that has move value elsewhere then in Barrie with where they are projected to be as a team next year. This also pushes Barrie closer to last in the league which will be benifitial due to the fact that the OHL picks first in the import draft this year. If they can get McBain to commit they could have a core group of '00 (Nizhnikov, Tucker, McBain, Svechnikov projected) and '01 (Hughes projected). That is a group that gets me excited.

December 30th

Player Signing

Ottawa 67's

Mathieu Foget '97

Breakdown

Mathieu went undrafted his OHL draft year after leading his MM Ottawa jr 67s in scoring. He would suit up for the midget Jr 67's that year in the Telus Cup in Sault Ste Marie and help them to a silver medal. His aged 16 and 17 seasons were spent with Gloucester in the CCHL where he would pick up 82 points in 61 games his final year while also being selected to represent Team Canada East in the World Jr A challange. Last season as an 18 year old he suited up for Merrimack College and picked up 12 points in 34 games which is very good for an 18 year old.

After playing 13 games for Merrimack this season he decided he needed a change of scenery and came home by signing with the 67's. He will give them added offensive depth and should be a solid OA for them next season giving them 2 viable OA candidates on their current roster.

December 31st

Trade

Sarnia Sting

Nikita Korostelev
Alex Black

to
Peterborough Petes

Nick Grima
2nd 2017 (ERI)
2nd 2019 (SSM)
2nd 2020 (WSR)
3rd 2017 (KIT)
3rd 2019
6th 2017

Breakdown

Sarnia does a great job in maximizing the return from their best trade asset in Korostelev. In his 4th season Nikita is finally averaging over a point per game with 35 in 31 games this year and has 81 career OHL goals in 199 games. I dont know if he is enough to lead a team to a conference title but anything is possible in the East.

Black is a solid addition to the Pete's blueline. An alternate captain the last 2 seasons the stay at home defender brings with him 156 games of experience with him.

Nick Grima is exactly the player that Sarnia needed. Their current roster consisted of 2 '96 3 '97 and 1 '99 born defender so by adding a player with the upside of Grima is exactly what they needed to do when moving their assets.

With the picks coming Sarnia now has a 2nd in 2017 (they didnt before) and a total of 6 over the next 5 seasons. They 2017 3rd with be their 4th in the upcoming draft (look for one of these to be traded) and the 2019 3rd will be their only pick in that round between 2018-2020.

The Petes had 92nd over the next 5 seasons and are now down to 6 although they still have a 2nd round in every year that they traded from. They also still have 5 3rd over the next 5 seasons so they have plenty of bullets left to make other trades.

Sarnia did very well in this trade to maximize their asset return and picking up a '99 defender like Grima is fantastic. For the Pete's they need to make a playoff run and start selling more tickets and this is the right step. Look for Peterborough to move more of their picks and their younger players as they continue to loaded up. This move will look better for the Pete's if they can get OA seasons out of their new players.

January 2nd

Trades

Kingston Frontnacs

Warren Foegele

to

Erie Otters

Brett Neumann
3rd round 2021

Breakdown

Erie entered this trade deadline near the top of the West for the 4th year in a row. Because of past deadline acquisitions their draft cupboard is rather barren thus putting them in a position where they need to be creative in upgrading their roster.

For half a season of high leveraged games out of OA Warren Foegele the Otters ship out 2.5 seasons worth of Brett Neumann. Neumann is a speedy undersized forward who should help compliment the enviable stash of young talent in Kingston. A captain of his minor midget team the Don Mills Flyers Neumann also played for Team Ontario at the Canada Winter Games and also played in the U17 challenge for team Canada Red in 15-16.

With 14 points in 35 games this year Brett has already equaled last years total and should see a spike in production with an increased role in Kingston.

In Foegele the Otters help address their biggest concern in the West and that is depth up front. There is no denying the Otters have the best top end talent but from 1 to 12 up front you would have to give he edge to London, Sault Ste Marie and Windsor. This trade helps alleviate some of those concerns.

Warren has been a point per game player this season on Kingston team that has been starved for offence. With Raddysh, Strome and Debrincat already in Erie Foegele and slide into a complimentary role.

His addition also gives the Otters a 3rd player with a FO% greater than 60% (Strome 65%, Pettit 62.3%).

Kingston likely gets more value out of this deal by the time all is said and done but Erie gets its value at a more leveraged time. A steep cost for an OA but it is a clear improvement of an area of need while trying to win it all.

January 3rd

Niagara Icedogs

Cal Davis

to

Kingston Frontenacs

5th Round 2019

Breakdown

Niagara moves 2015 2nd round pick Cal Davis after only 25 OHL games (0G 1A). He has split time the last two seasons between Niagara and Thorold of the GOJHL. This season for Thorold he has 16 points 9-7 in 11 games. The scoring prowess he has shown in the GOJHL this year and has a minor midget however has yet to show in the OHL.

For the Fronts the pick up a play who still has some upside at the cost of only a 5th round draft pick. He is the 2nd '99 born forward to be acquired by Kingston this deadline as they start to stockpile a very intriuging group of '99 and '00 born players.

January 6th

Oshawa Generals

Stephen Templeton

to

North Bay Battalion

10th round '17

Breakdown

Numbers situation for Templeton in Oshawa. With the depth Hunt has accumulated he is no longer in their long term plans so he will get a fresh oppetunity in North Bay.

North Bay gets a depth piece and a player he seems born to play for Stan Butler. With Butlers ability to get the most out of his players this could turn out to be a nice value deal for them moving forward.

North Bay Battalion

Maurizo Colella

to

Flint Firebirds

5th Round 2019 (MIS)

Breakdown

After picking up Colella from Hamilton last season for a conditional 12th and Kyle Locke (who never played for the Bulldogs) the Battalion ship him off to Flint for a 5th round pick.

Colella who has 6 goals and 10 assists this season should be able to add a spark to Flints bottom 6 as they look to fend off Saginaw and Guelph for the final playoff spot in the West before getting wiped out in 4 games during round 1 of the OHL playoffs.

Colella will be the 5th '97 born forward on the Firebirds so things could get crowded in Flint next year while they try to sort their OA situation.

Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds

Liam Hawel
3rd round 2021

to

Guelph Storm

Noah Carroll
3rd round 2017 (Sag)
2nd round 2020
3rd round 2018 (conditional)

Breakdown

In Liam Hawel the Strom acquire the Greyhounds 1st round pick from 2015. A 6'5" forward Hawel is player who seems to be getting better every time I see him. While fans may look at his point totals and be skeptical of his potential he is someone who I could see breaking out big time in his 18 year old season. With more ice time availible and a good young core to grow with I think Guelph may be the perfect situation for Hawel.

In Noah Carroll the Hounds get a veteran left handed shot (White and DeMeo only left shots on Houdns blueline) deference. There has been a lot of talk about the Hounds acquiring an OA rearguard but the '97 born Carroll makes more sense as he could be back next year for his OA season (Hounds currently have 1 '97 who is likely to be back next year).

As for the Picks the Hounds move a '21 3rd and pick up a '17 3rd. This makes sense for both teams as Guelph has plenty of picks his year and can use the '21 3rd to augment this young roster as it is peaking.

The Hounds also get a 2nd in 2020 which they need as their only 2nd rounders in the next 5 drafts are both in 2021. As for the condional 3rd I am assuming since it is in 2018 will only come to the Hounds if Noah Carroll does not play his OA season which is possible as he was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes last June.

Overall I think this is a fantastic trade for both teams.

Release

Erie Otters

Shaun Bily

Breakdown

The former 3rd round pick was never able to move up in the Otters lineup was released as he had found an opportunity for more ice time with Quebec in the QMJHL. It is a situation that he should thrive in and breakout in a way he was never able to in Erie as the talent is there.

January 7th

Trades

Ottawa 67's

Drake Rymsha

to

Sarnia Sting

2nd round '18
2nd round '20 (WSR)
3rd round '19 (PBO)
4th round '17

Breakdown

'98 born Drake Rymsha in the middle of a career season with the Ottawa 67's requested a trade last week. Earlier in his career he requested a trade out of London which is how he ended up in Ottawa. The 67's found a willing taker in Sarnia which will bring Rymsha closer to his Michigan hometown.

It was a steep price picks for the '98 born forward as they are now down to only 2 2nd round picks in the next 5 drafts. Ottawa conversely is now sitting at 7 2nd round picks that they can use to stimulate their young roster as the try to peak over the next 2 seasons.

The Sting have an interesting group of '98 and '99 born players but if they cant get Hughes ('15 2nd) or Weiss ('16 1st) to commit you have to wonder if they will have what it takes to compete with the top dogs in the ultra competitive West.

January 9th

Kitchener Rangers

Jacob Cascagnette

to

Mississauga Steelheads

3rd round pick (2020)
4th round pick Conditional (2019)

Breakdown

Mississauga gets a badly needed upgrade to their bottom 6. Cascagnette may not bring much offence to the table (12G 18A 140 career games) but he is a big gritty player who will bring much needed expierience to the bottom of the Mississauga lineup.

Kitchener gets good value back in a 3rd and a conditional 4th (likely conditional upon him playing his OA season). They also clear some of their OA log jam that they have forming ahead of next season.

I would still expect Kitchener to add 1 maybe 2 more peices ahead of tomorrows deadline but this is a good start.

Oshawa Generals

Mitchell Vande Sompel

to

London Knights

Ian Blacker
2nd round pick 2017
2nd round pick 2019 SBY
3rd round pick 2018
3rd round pick 2024 Conditional upon MVS playing his OA season

Breakdown

In Vande Sompel the Generals trade one of the top offensive defencemen in the league and a man who is all over their record books. 61st in career games and 49th in career assists just to name 2. Undersized but a great skater and should fit in seamlessly with Joulevi, Mete and Bouchard in what may be one of the most elegant and free flowing defence corps in the league.

In Ian Blacker the Generals get one of the most highly rated prospects from the 2015 draft who fell due to his commitment to play at Western Michigan (where his older brother and Ottawa draft pick Ben Blacker was committed too) After playing last season in the OJHL with Oakville he decided to forgo his verbal commitment and signed with London. He is currently pointless in 23 games with the Knights but the Generals are getting a very good prospect with great size who still has plenty of projectability in his game. I have no doubt that the Generals coaching staff will work wonders with his development.

Steep price for London given how highly I feel about Blacker but they rightfully have confidence in their scouts and their ability to continually maximize their draft assets. Oshawa looking really good to peak if not next year then the year after.

Oshawa Generals

Anthony Cirelli

to

Erie Otters

Alan McShane
2nd round pick 2022
2nd round pick 2023
4th round pick 2018
2nd round pick Conditional 2024
6th round pick Conditional 2019

Breakdown

The Otters add Anthony Cirelli fresh off of his WJC expierience with team Canada. Cirelli will be the 4th elite faceoff man on the Otters joining Strome, Foegele and Pettit who are all above 60%. More importantly Cirelli is a versitile point per game player that can fit anywhere in the Otters lineup. For those who like the false narative of players rising to the challenge in championship situations Cirelli who was not drafted into the OHL scored both goals for the Generals in their Memorial Cup finals win.

In McShane the Generals get a 2000 born stud who is 4th among OHL rookies with .7 points per game (Merkley and Thomas are the only '00 with a higher average). McShane won a Silver medal last year with Canada at the Youth Olympics, a Silver at the OHL Cup and a Silver with Team Canada black at the U17. He will be reunited in Oshawa with his minor midget teammate Danil Antropov.

The 2nd round picks come back will help allow the Generals to augment this lineup either next year when they hope to host the memorial cup or in '18-'19 when this young lineup should begin to peak.

Also dont be surprised if there is more to this trade in the summer wink wink.

North Bay Battalion

Stephen Templeton
5th round pick (2017)
6th round pick Conditional

to

Hamilton Bulldogs

Jesse Saban
10th round pick (2017)

Breakdown

After refusing to report to North Bay where his grand father was a legandary coach Stephen Templeton has been moved to Hamilton.

In a simple exchange of '97 born defencemen the Battalion may have come out on top here. At the small cost of droping back 5 rounds the Battalion get a more well rounded defencemen.

For the Bulldogs I would be shocked if Templeton plays his OA season in Hamilton next year given their current crop of '97s

Owen Sound Attack

Justin Brack

to

Niagara Icedogs

11th round pick 2017

Breakdown

With the acquisition of Cordell James from the Barrie Colts (See Below) Justin Brack is the odd man out in Owen Sound.

With 231 OHL games under his belt Brack will bring some much needed expierience to the dressing room in Niagara that is presently filled with captivating and developing rookies. He may not offer much in terms of offence but should be able to take some important minutes, thus allowing the rookies to devoping in less leveraged situations.

Barrie Colts

Cordell James

to

Owen Sound Attack

4th round pick 2018 SSM

Breakdown

The Barrie Colts captain should add some offensive depth to the Attack after coming over from Barrie. After scoring 19 goals and picking up 44 points last year as a 19 year old he has contributed 13 goals and 25 points this year. James also led the league in faceoff wins last season and should help the Attack in that department for the rest of the season.

Ottawa 67's

Dante Salituro
8th round pick 2021

to

London Knights

Chris Martenet
2nd round pick 2021
3rd round pick 2018 OSH
15th round pick 2021

Breakdown

In what has been the most shocking and outside the box trade of the day the London Knights pick up Salituro who has been playing in the ECHL this year and instantly becomes a top 3 OA in the league. After scoring 37 for Ottawa as an 18 year old and 38 last year as a 19 year old it is not out of the question that he steps in and averages .75 goals per game the rest of the way for London.

In return the 67's and to their stash of draft picks but also get a much needed veteran presence with size on the backend. With the youngest defence corps in the league having a guy like Martenet will help insulate the younger guys for the last half of the season.

Saginaw Spirit

Mitchell Stephens

to

London Knights

2nd round pick 2018 (OTT)
2nd round pick 2018 (KGN)
2nd round pick 2019 (OS)
2nd round pick 2020 (SBY)
3rd round pick 2017
3rd round pick 2019
3rd round pick 2021 Conditional

Breakdown

The Saginaw Spirit send star play and 2 time Team Canada World Junior team member to the London Knights in what can be nothing short of a disappointing return. Draft picks are vastly overrated by fans so while 4 2nd and 2 3rds seems exciting it pales in comparison to getting a body back in return.

It isnt Saginaw's fault though as Stephens controlled the situation with his NTC which was his right. With only Windsor and London as viable options the Knights were in the drivers seat with more picks and the fact that Windsor didnt have a 1st last year the Knights didnt have any pressure to offer their young studs.

It is very important for Saginaw to maximize these assets whether it is through astute trades or drafting high upside players who commit to Saginaw.

Niagara Icedogs

Chris Paquette
4th round pick 2018 (Conditional)

to

Peterborough Petes

Nate McDonald
2nd round pick 2017
2nd round pick 2018
2nd round pick 2020 (SSM)
2nd round pick 2021
3rd round pick 2022

Breakdown

A very steep price paid for 1.5 years (plus a potential but unlikely OA season) of Chris Paquette but they all came from areas of asset strength from the Petes.

Paquette a Tampa Bay draft pick is in the midst of a career season that has seen his PPG average jump from .28 in his 17 year old season to .78 this year good for 12 goals 17 assists in 37 games. He should be able to contribute in all situations in Peterborough and will give them depth on their 2nd line.

In return the Icedogs get Mcdonald a former 13th round draft pick who has been playing for the 1st place team in the NOJHL the Powassan VooDoos. He currently 20-2-1 with a 2.05 GAA and a .928 SV%

Going into the Christmas trade freeze the Icedogs only had 1 2nd (2021) and 5 3rd round picks over the next 5 seasons. Moving Paquette while his value is at its highest will help with the Icedogs rebuild, especially that '17 2nd round pick.

Peterborough Petes

CJ Clarke

to

Flint Firebirds

2nd round pick 2018 Gue
3rd round pick 2018 Nia

Breakdown

With a bottleneck of young developing forwards in the fold the Petes have shipped former 2nd round pick CJ Clarke to Flint for a pair of draft picks. The former OHL Cup Champion is in his 2nd year in the OHL and after only picking up 2 points in 51 games as a rookie he already has 11 points in 27 games this year. With more ice time available in Flint it is fair to expect another spike in production is on its way for Clarke.

As for the Petes they picked up good value essentially turning a 2nd into a 2nd and 3rd. This deal should have them at 3 2nd over the next 5 years and a handful of 3rd rounders on top of that.

Kitchener Rangers

Jeremy Bracco
8th round pick 2017
13th round pick 2018

to

Windsor Spitfires
Andrew Burns
Cole Carter
2nd round pick 2023
2nd round pick 2024
2nd round pick 2025

Breakdown

Arguably the most dynamic player in the OHL with 51 points in 27 games after starting the season on a 26 game point streak. Coming off a Gold Medal with the USA at the World Juniors Bracco has plenty of big game experience to draw on as the Spits look to battle what may be the most difficult conference championship race in OHL history. He will be "The Guy" in Windsor which should help take the pressure off of Brown and Vilardi which could allow for a spike in their production.

In return they get veteran defender Andrew Burns who brings 173 games of OHL expierience to the Rangers battered blueline. He should have a spot penciled in as an OA next year which will allow them to trade one of their other '97s in the offseason to recoup more assets.

I am a big fan of Cole Carter and feel he can really flourish in Kitchener. He is averaging just over a goal every 3 games with the Spits and believe in Kitchener he can kick up that average ateast to that of a 30 goal score over a full 68 game schedule (.44 goals per game average). He will be a key part of this team next year and could develop some major chemistry with Greg Meireles.

The 3 picks are all down the road. The conditional pick is coming to Kitchener no matter what. It just may be sooner than 2025 it depends on what assets the Spits can recoup in the future. I dont know if any of these picks will be used by Kitchener but it certainly gives them trade ammo for next year.

Barrie Colts

Cam Lizotte

to

Erie Otters
3rd round pick 2022
5th round pick 2018
10th round pick 2017 (SSM)

Breakdown

A year after walking away from the Petes before being sent to the Barrie Colts Cam Lizotte is on the move again. The physical brusing defenceman may not have developed as some projected after his minor midget season out of Sudbury but he is a quality top for D in the OHL.

He will add a great deal of experience and depth to the Erie blueline. With all the moves today Dave Brown is certainly writing an evocative script that will make Otters fans dream of the '01-'02 season.

For the Colts the move another piece that should move them closer to the 1st over all pick which would mean a shot at Jack Hughes in the OHL priority selection and Andrei Svechnikov in the Import draft. The draft picks will also help as the Colts are starved in that department after a couple of years of competitive hockey.

January 10th

Hamilton Bulldogs

Trent Fox

to

Mississauga Steelheads

3rd round pick 2020
4th round pick 2019
5th roudn pick 2017

Breakdown
Trent Fox is a player who has seemed to regress this year under new Hamilton coach John Gruden. He is at the point where he is now a 19 year old 3rd liner and for that the Bulldogs get good value in the 3 draft picks.

For Mississauga this is a small price for a player who is in need of a scenery change. Fox while he will still be in a bottom 6 role in Mississauga will have a more defined role and one where he could flourish and improve his OA stock for next season.

While Hamilton fans may be confused by this I dont feel Fox has that big of a baring on their success this year. Over all I feel this is a good hockey trade and makes lots of sense for both sides.

Kitchener

Mason Kohn

to

Oshawa Generals

2nd round pick 2019 KGN
3rd round pick 2021
3rd round pick 2022 Conditional KGN

Breakdown

The Generals make another very good value deal. Acquring Mason Kohn for what amounts to a 2nd and a 3rd for the last half of his 19 year old season and only a 3rd for his OA (conditonal pick based upon if he returns for his OA season).

For Kitchener after acquiring Burns in the Bracco trade they decided to be proactive about their OA situation last year and move Kohn while his value is at its highest. You are unlikely to get 3 picks this good for him if you waited till the summer. Fantastic move by Murray Heibert.

Kingston Frontenacs

Zack Dorval

to

Ottawa 67's

4th round pick 2017

Breakdown

Zack Dorval a Hearst, ON native and former Soo Thunder MM is off to Ottawa where he will get a fresh start after his development seemed to stagnate in Kingston. Could thrive under Jeff Brown playing a bottom 6 energy role while filling in on the 2nd line for short spurts when needed.

For Kingston you hope that you get more out of a former 2nd round draft pick but at the end of the day where he was drafted is nothing more than a sunk cost. With the young talent they have acquired they needed to move someone to open up ice time and speed up their development.

Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds

Theo Calvas

to

Sarnia Sting

7th round pick 2018

Breakdown

With the acquasition of Noah Carrol Calvas was caught in a numbers game with the Greyhounds. The move allows them to keep Anthony DeMeo in a regular rotation for playing time who may not be where Calvas is now but has a higher upside.

After taking Calvas in the 14th round being able to flip him a year later for a 7th is great value for the Greyhounds.

The Sting get another young defencemen who can return next year (before the freeze their blueline was loaded with '96 and '97 born defenders) as they look to piece together a team that can pounce in the West after the big guns have moved so many young assets this deadline.

Niagara Icedogs

Hayden Davis

to

Saginaw Spirit

Kirill Maksimov
3rd round pick 2018
2nd round pick 2019

Breakdown

2015 1st round pick Hayden Davis gets a fresh start in Saginaw ( I still really like his potential and Spirit fans will love him) while 2015 2nd round pick and '99 born forward Kirill Maksimov moves to Niagara where he will be added to a impressive and developing young group of forwards.

Davis has been solid this year on the rebuilding Icedogs albeit playing protected minutes. He has 10 points but has a +/- of 0 on a bottom feeding team.

Maksimov picked up 21 points in 54 games as a rookie and is already up to 16 in 37 games during his sophomore season. Should immediately jump into a top 6 role with the young Icedogs.

Oshawa Generals

Daniel Robertson

to

Windsor Spitfires

3rd round pick 2024

Breakdown

After moving Burns last night in the Bracco trade the Spits needed to find another Dman to replenish their depth on the backend.

They found a willing trade partner who was willing to accept a draft pick in the next decade as the Generals move Windsor native Daniel Robertson back to his hometown.

Robertson is in his 2nd full season in the OHL after jumping between Oshawa and Jr B and Jr A in his 16 and 17 year old seasons. He has been a solid contributor to the Gens the last 2 seasons and should be one of the better 3rd pair defenders in the West as the Spits have an embarrassment of riches on their blueline right now.

Saginaw

Robert Proner

to

Bar

5th round pick 2018 (ERI)

Breakdown

Proner a 2015 2nd round pick who has asked for a trade out of Saginaw. Finally gets his wish and is moved to Barrie for pennies on the dollar.

Dont look now by Barrie is quickly reloading and should be a strong challanger to Oshawa over the next few seasons.

Mississauga Steelheads

Jason Smith

to

Barrie Colts

7th round pick 2017

Breakdown

For a mid round pick the Colts add a '97 born body to help soak up some ice time over what could be a rough final half season. Smith should come in motivated as he hopes to earn an OA spot next year if not with Barrie then with someone else.

Guelph Storm

Jake Bricknell

to

Peterborough Petes

15th round pick 2018

Breakdown

Since leaving the Guelph Storm Bricknell has been suiting up for the Colbourg Cougars of the OJHL. He will stay in Jr A but will be available as a call up for the Petes. It should be noted the Colbourg is hosting the RBC cup this year so dont expect much availability come playoff time.

Sudbury Wolves

Ben Garagan

to

Hamiltion Bulldogs

5th round pick 2019
5th round pick 2022 Conditional

Breakdown

A great buy low move by Steve Staios as he pickes up Garagan a North Bay native who was an offensive leader on his Minor Midget team in North York. He also played a staring role for team GTHL Blue who won the OHL Gold Cup his draft year.

He will have a great opportunity to showcase his talents the last half of the season on a team that will likely move on from some of its current veterans next season.

Hamilton Bulldogs

Adam Laisham
2nd round draft pick WSR
8th round pick 2017

to

Windsor Spitfires
2nd round pick 2017 NIA
4th round pick 2017 KGN
2nd round pick 2026 Conditional

Breakdown

What was a potentially crowded OA situation next year before the trade freeze is suddenly quiet open as the Bulldogs give up half a season of Adam Laisham to move up about 16 spots in the 2nd round and about 80 spots from the 8th round to the 4th round.

On top of that they have a 2026 2nd round pick coming their way if Laisham plays his OA season. Now the Present Value of a 2nd round pick in 2017 is a fair bit higher than in 2026 so look for this pick to be used as trade bait next season if the Bulldogs host the Memorial cup or in 2018-19 when this team should peak as an Eastern Conference power.
